About me

I'm the YunoJuno Social Media Freelancer of the Year 2023/4, and I was a finalist in 2019 and 2022. I've previously worked as a freelance community manager covering content creation, copy and strategy for over 100 household brands including YouTube, Google, Haribo UK, MAOAM UK, Nature Valley UK, Kit Kat, Aero, Mr Kipling, Carphone Warehouse, Currys PC World, Marmite, Etsy UK, Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Pot Noodle, Hovis and more. I've also worked on research projects in a strategy role for Manfrotto, Medtronic and LifeScan. This content was posted on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Twitter and in newsletters.

Outside of my day job I freelance as a journalist / blogger on the social media industry and have been published in Econsultancy, Chinwag, Huffington Post and The Guardian. My first book "How To Get A Job Using Twitter" was published by the Guardian in July 2014 and my 2nd book "How To Make A Living By Working For Free" on the subject of growing online communities was self-published in 2016 and crowdfunded through my online audience.

In March 2015 I also took on a yearly role as a guest lecturer on social media at Portsmouth, Blackpool and Nottingham Trent Uni. In addition to this I've given talks at medium-sized conferences around the UK about social media, community building and freelancing.

Beyond all of this, I created and host the award-winning Ask The Industry podcast which is about to hit 500,000 downloads in just 6 years. I'm proficient in the entire Adobe Creative Suite and have advanced knowledge of Audition. I've also edited videos and podcasts for other creatives.
