About me

I am currently a PhD research student. However, as I am now in the final stages of writing up my thesis, I feel that this is the time to seek full time employment. I will be able to complete my PhD in my own time - therefore, other than the skills I will be able to bring to the company which employs me, this will not impact upon my new career.

Whilst the companies you represent may not be aware that they are looking for a PhD researcher with limited (immediately apparent) commercial experience - I would like to assure you that the years I spent at Mentor Graphics as a sales-led customer-facing technical consultant are still fresh in my mind.

I would also like to express that, although as a consultant for Mentor I earned about £25,000 basic with an achievable OTE £30,000 (before I gained my MA and embarked upon my doctorate) I do not necessarily/realistically expect to re-enter the commercial field on a similar wage. I am looking for a company willing to take someone who is close to getting their research doctorate, at an entry/graduate level, and then willing progress me commercially.

In turn, I feel I would be able to offer much to the company which ultimately employs me. I am able to adapt myself to new situations - having gone from being a student of business and IT, to being a technical consultant/account manager, to being a media focused PhD researcher working in retail.
