About me

My name is Simon Hammond and I graduated from the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff in 2004 after completing a degree in Graphic Communication. Since then I worked as a postman for a year while taking on some freelance jobs to keep myself involved with graphic design. This alloowed me some creative freedom and gave me the chance to take on some varied work including posters for a rock group and the corporate identity for a childcare nursery.

In October 2005 I began a job as a Typesetter with a print company where I was involved with work such as brochures, menus, price lists and stationary among other similar jobs. While here I used Quark and Adobe Photoshop to complete jobs and I learnt to work on several jobs at once and meet client needs.

I then took a job on as a Graphic Designer with a busy publishing company. While there I worked as the In House Graphic designer and took sole responsibility for a business journal, designing the advertisments and page layouts. While here I learnt to work to tight deadlines and how to take a job from start to finish including print preparation. This job was produced using Quark and Photoshop.

At this point I have learnt to use Quark, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and have some experience with Macromedia Dreamweaver. I have learnt skills such as time management, Client interaction and the print process.
