About me
A long term aim of mine has been to work in a busy, dynamic, progressive environment from a young age. I have always been attracted to the diversity, and wealth of new and interesting trends that stem from here whether it be in film, fashion, television, music or going out eating or socialising. It was this appeal which led me to realise that to achieve this goal I would have to go to university and gain a degree. I felt that the subject that most interested me was a BA Honours in Media and Cultural Studies. Whilst at school I really enjoyed Media Studies and felt that the degree on offer would not only appeal to my own personal interests of media, fashion, and culture, but would also enable me to gain a job in the media industry itself. Whilst on the course I was able to learn about the way the media and culture effects us as consumers, and the way in which the producers of this media influence or try to influence by their means of production. Even before I started my degree I had an interest in adverts and the thinking behind them. This was backed up by my experience of the retail environment and being able to see the way in which consumers reacted to various approaches of selling and advertising. Whilst studying for my degree I was able to study the media whether it television, radio or film in great detail and I became increasingly more interested in advertising to the point where I took a module on it my final year gaining a 2:1, and writing my dissertation on celebrity endorsement within advertising. After gaining short but valuable experience working at All Saints Head Office in London, this only strengthened my desire to work within the advertising and media industry and put what knowledge I gained from my university studies to use. I am willing to learn and gain experience in any aspect of your company to enable me to get insight to the advertising and media industry itself and careers available within it.
