About me

I am a Cartographer based in South Tottenham, North London. I specialise in transport mapping, colour coded maps and diagrams. I create, amend and update maps, diagrams, timetables, destinations and indexes. When I create a new map I visualise myself as the map user. It's important to ask yourself the true purpose of the map you are working on. It's easy to get yourself lost in a project and over clutter the reader with too much information. Creating a balance is key. Providing the user with the correct information to enable him or her to complete their journey with ease. Having a true understanding of colour and typography is fundamental when creating maps. Knowing what colours to use and how they work together is important, especially in colour coded maps and diagrams. The usage of fonts is also equally important. At the end of the day my aim is to provide the user with a clear easy to use product that is both informative and aesthetically pleasing.

Sector Experience

Worked as a Cartographer for LOCOG creating map guides for bus drivers, venue maps for spectators and LOCOG employees. In my role as a Cartographer for FWT I have had many achievments, including the Milton Keynes bus network map. Creating clear and eye catching fonts, line weights, symbols and use of colour to create a visually attractive, but more importantly an easy to use and imformative network guide. Confident and out going I thrive under pressure. With the skill set and experience I possess I can work well within a team and independently. I am seeking a new challenge after being made redundant from my last position.
