About me

My name is Shelby Smyth and I am a recent graduate, having graduated with a first class honours in graphic design. I have been working freelance during my time at university and have continued to work freelance after graduating, however now I want something more secure, with a structure. My time freelance means that I have gained some experience in working with clients. I believe that, between my formal education at university and my practical experience gained during my time freelancing, I am well-prepared for a position as a junior graphic designer. I am now looking to get my foot into an industry that I adore. I am a hard working and dedicated designer whom is always willing to get their hands dirty and get stuck in. I take constructive criticism very well and consistently work to the best of my ability. I am able to work in a range of different styles and apply various different techniques, and I am incredible passionate about what I do.

I have a keen interest in Typography, as well as Illustration, motion graphics, advertising and I aim to consistently improve within my practice, as I truly believe that there is always room for improvement, especially within an industry such as the creative industry.

I am highly capable of interpreting briefs and can ideas from the initial concept through to production.

Whilst In University I have learned how to be efficient and have a working knowledge of the Adobe Creative suite, largely Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and After Effects. Alongside this I have knowledge of Microsoft Office. I am an excellent multitasker with the ability to work to deadlines, and work very well both individually as well as with a collective team, I like to think that I am a creative thinker and I am always happy to grow and learn, honing my craft more and more.
