About me

My name is Selene and I'm a graphic designer from Canberra, Australia. I graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Graphic Design (Hons.) from the University of Canberra.

I joined the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) as a graphic designer in 2004. We have grown from a small studio of 3 designers to 6 designers, among one of the largest studios in Canberra. At DEWR I produce a range of products including design and typesetting of large scale publications, magazines, brochures, posters, press ads, websites. I have also produced products for a number of events and awards nights, these products include banners, lectern signs, invitations, awards books and specialty promotional items. At DEWR, I went from a junior designer to a middle weight/senior designer. I am responsible for a job from concept stage to delivery as well as managing other team members.

I have worked as a freelance designer since 2003 producing a range of print products for Canberra businesses as well as short term typesetting work.

Since 2004 I have worked as a graphic designer on a volunteer basis for ACT Rescue and Foster (ARF) who rescue dogs from euthanasia and foster them temporarily in their own homes for as long as it takes to find them loving, permanent homes. This involves producing a bi-monthly newsletter, information flyers and a range of promotional items.

I have just completed five months travel around Europe and am looking to gain work experience in Edinburgh.
