About me

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to apply for the Junior Copywriter role as advertised on Creativepool. I have experience in copywriting, content creation and digital marketing, and believe this role would be a great opportunity.

Writing is something I am really comfortable doing. During my degree, I had the opportunity to write in several different formats in addition to the traditional essay style, including a book review and a self-reflective report. I always paid close attention to detail by proofreading all of my work and I have good knowledge of spelling and grammar. My degree enhanced my organisational skills, especially with regard to time-management and multi-tasking. However, the best skill I gained from my degree was confidence as I am now unperturbed when approaching tasks or challenges that I have limited experience in.

Working at the British School of Osteopathy gave me the chance to use my own initiative on a daily basis. Most of my work was done independently, so I am comfortable working without supervision and always aim to complete tasks to a high standard. This position taught me how to work on several projects simultaneously as my role encompassed multiple elements of the business. I had a 'hands-on' approach and was happy to help other departments and projects if I had the opportunity; for example, I invigilated examinations for the Registry department and helped at open day events for new students.

Whilst at university, I was a copywriter for the GKBC Inc Writing Academy: this was a great chance for me to get tips and feedback on my writing. The Academy was organised by Strategy Internet Marketing, who would send me a brief for a blog that would be published on one of their client's websites. Several of my pieces have been published online and I really enjoyed the challenge of writing about topics outside of my comfort zone. This work gave me an invaluable insight into writing for the web and I have a firm understanding of how this differs to other formats.

I completed a summer placement in event management where I undertook a wide variety of tasks, including writing features and updates for the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta social media pages and website. The role was based in a fast paced environment, and I dealt with several time-sensitive tasks, so it was important to be a quick learner. This also involved a large amount of teamwork and I tried to anticipate the needs of my senior colleagues to ensure that everything ran smoothly. During my time here, I was thrilled to write the official programme for the Balloon Fiesta and thoroughly enjoyed the research and writing elements that this required.

I would like to thank you for considering my application. I have attached my CV as requested and am available to provide any further necessary information.

Yours faithfully,

Sarah McLaughlin
