About me

I am an ambitious, culturally-aware and highly motivated new designer - with a passionate belief in the persuasive power of creative language. Words, in my opinion, are an essential dynamic of communication, as essential as good design in the creation of effective and memorable messages.

That's why I'm currently looking for a position (or work experience) within a design agency where I will be able to contribute both my graphic design and copywriting skills.

In my final year at university, I was commissioned by the graphics department as copywriter for all 2008 Degree Show publications. I worked within a £7000 budget to produce a piece of design to publicise the event, managing both the concept and written content of the publication. Entitled "Freight", it was received as a great success, and as a radical but highly effective departure from the approach taken in previous years.

I was also chosen to join a small team of designers to work on a government-backed charity initiative to raise awareness of obesity in young people. It was a great opportunity to both improve my design skills and work first-hand with commissioning clients. The resulting book - called "Get Stuffed" - is currently being distributed to schools around the country.

More recently, I was chosen to represent myself and my university at the prestigious D&AD "New Blood" exhibition at Earls Court in London. I was also recently short-listed as one of a small number of candidates to progress to the final interview stage for the BBC Graduate Design Scheme.

Work experience to date has included one month contributing to live projects within my father's personal relations business. I wrote a number of reference articles for the web, gaining a valuable insight into the disciplines of digital media. In just a few weeks, I will be graduating with a First Class Honours degree.
