About me
I started work many years ago on a light box, brandishing a scalpel... then along came Macs and I scratched my head, wondered what it did, and then got stuck in, realising that if I didn't learn this way of working I would have more in common with dinosaurs.
I have experience of working for printers, repro houses and small design companies including silk-screen and digital printers. I am not looking to forge a new career but just to join a nice friendly team and contribute to the end result. I am happy to take on typesetting roles, artworker, whatever. I don't pretend to be the greatest Mac Operator but I do have a good knowledge of the printing industry and how to produce a viable pdf for print.
I have often worked in companies with 5 or less employees and am happy in a small team. I can make the tea without taking offence and will get my hands dirty if need be.
Skills
I use Quark Express very rarely these days but it was the software that I started on along with Illustrator and Photoshop., I now use InDesign all of the time and am currently working in CS4.
Sector Experience
Currently typesetting and designing books for a London publisher., Many years on Macs in pre-press departments of a number of printers., Designed Nisa-Todays magazine for 2 years - trade supermarket publication.
