About me

I'm a Colombian designer with an emphasis in communication design. I've been working as creative director of 4-18 a non-profit organization since 2011 and recently became head of their editorial branch. I've been developing projects in 4-18 around three main interests I have as a designer, co-creativity, art direction and editorial design. The last two projects I've worked were "Proyecto Visualizacion de Honda" where I was in charge of the branding and visualization of the content of the project as well as the of the editorial pieces of the production of the project. This project demanded that I worked in collaboration with photographers, the local museum, fishermen and their families from the city of Honda. For this I had to establish systems of horizontal communication between academic professionals, the fishermen and the children from the community to be able to develop a design that was representative of the people and also helped to start a conversation between them and cultural institutions as the Colombian National Library and the Rio Magdalena's Museum of Honda. The main goal was to achieve meting points in the community to discuss environmental and social issues. The second project was "A Manual, How to Bribe a Cop in Colombia" a project for Shanghai Biennal and the Museum of contemporary art of Ming bookstore made in collaboration with Taiwanese artist Yunyu Shih, here I was in charge of the editorial design and art direction for the book. For this book we had six-month research, gathering testimonials, defining the structure of the book and this led me to define the visual components based on the identity and branding used by the Colombian Police.
