About me
Dear Sir or Madam:
I am looking for a rewarding adventure that will challenge me as I prepare to take on my career.
My career aim is to gain an understanding of as many areas in design as possible and to learn as much from industry professionals as I can in order to develop my own skills in the field. Furthermore, I would like to bring the skills that I have learnt over my time at university and on placement to any team that I work within.
I have recently graduated from the university of Huddersfield having studied Textile design for fashion and interiors. I am still refreshing my mind with color, materials and pattern trends on WGSN and other resources. I have also recently taken part in a year in industry, spending time with the editorial team at Isabella Oliver assisting shoots and styling sessions. I liaised with photographers, models, designers, stylists and many more. My time spent with the company taught me a tremendous amount about the industry, lessons which I could not learn in an academic environment like university. My placement helped me develop my communication, social and professional skills having been given such a broad range of tasks and responsibilities whilst I was there.
I also spent time in a textile department in a local High school. I was involved in the lesson planning and assisting the textile teachers. Spending time with pupils ranging from 12 to 16 was a real test of strength, patience and communication, character forming experiences that lead to me becoming a stronger and much more confidant individual.
The year in industry was challenging and categorically the hardest year or my life but it was undeniably the most rewarding.
I have been baking from a young age and have been decorating cakes for the last three years, developing my skills in sugarcraft and cake design.
I am now ready and excited to begin my career in the industry.
Thank you for taking the time to read my cover letter, I hope to hear from you in the near future.
Yours sincerely,
Samantha Wilson
