About me
Samantha Olschan is an award-winning interdisciplinary artist & designer who works across brands, films, media, and experiences.
Public collaborative works can be seen on the two-story LED Interactive Wall at Boston Children's Hospital, a time-based interactive project that physically and emotionally empowers children and their families; as well as commercial projects including: "In the Family," with Kartemquin Films, "Creativity in Education: Exploring the Imbalance," with Montagna Productions, "Speed Racer the Next Generation," with Animation Collective and Lionsgate, and worked as a broadcast designer with Fox News Channel, ZenithOptimedia, Modern Day Rad & Electric Entertainment. She has also designed pre-visualizations, marketing materials and mockups for clients including Stouffers, H&M, Gap, Darden, Sonic, Chase and Oracle. Personally and professionally, she continues to experiment with all forms of storytelling through experimental animation, documentary films, experiential design, art and interactivity.
Her work explores the dialogue between image, typography, and culture to communicate complex narratives. Utilizing a blend of fine art and design, she establishes points of tension, challenging conventional views and enriching the discourse on awareness, compassion, and visual communication. The work investigates how these elements influence perception and response, using aesthetic approaches to engage deeply with their narratives. Through manipulating time, movement, color, photographic elements, and typographic forms, she creates layered meanings that reflect the experiences of marginalized groups and is dedicated to building empathy and amplifying the voices of underrepresented communities. As an educator, she combines collaborative, game-based & project-based learning in the classroom with digital media as a learning aid.
