About me
Please find attached my CV as way of application for the Copywriter role. As a freelance writer and film graduate with already three years magazine experience (focused on film/entertainment) and a firm understanding of the work ethic a copywriting role demands, I believe I am a good candidate for the position.
You will see from my attached CV that I have gained variety of both transferable and specific skills, which relate to working in editorial and the media industry in general. Rather then sitting back and simply digesting new releases and bands, I actively searched out opportunities to get involved, happily balancing reviewing jobs, film making and feature writing - steadily progressing to national level journalism from my own efforts in the space of a year.
While my degree has greatly sharpened my skills and giving me confidence, I am a firm believer that nothing beats first hand experience. Understanding this, I set out to widen my portfolio and writing style with various endeavors and in various styles, so as to be more adaptable in the work place. These commissions have giving me a good level of experience in dealing with A&R people, contacting talent directly, e.g. Frank Turner, Little Boots etc, band interviews, emailing, and sourcing hi-res images for use. In addition most of my work, especially features, has been freelance, showcasing my ability for creating interesting and informative subject matter and think on my feet. I'm now eager to combine the various skills i've learnt over the past four years with my passion of reading/writing in a professional atmosphere where my personality and work ethic can shine. Though a more experience candidate my be sought I hope with my enthusiasm, existing experience and hunger for new challenges I may be considered.
I am available for interview from June the 1st. I very much look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
Yours Sincerely
S.W.S
