About me

I am a writer and teacher with excellent communication skills and a particular flair for creativity. I graduated from Cambridge University in 2005 and have continued to write scripts and novels alongside my job as an English teacher, whilst I have recently become involved in designing and maintaining websites and blogs. I have outstanding literacy skills and a keen eye for detail and I am comfortable balancing multiple projects, maintaining a consistently high standard throughout. In all my years as a student and teacher, I have never missed a deadline and am renowned for the efficiency with which I work and the thorough approach I bring to each project I am part of. I am equally comfortable working in a team as I am working independently and I am a fast learner who is able to intuitively pick up new software and then pass on this understanding to others. Having had direct experience of self-publishing and directing plays, I understand how to proofread, edit, design, market and organise such projects. I have created a substantial website for an association with over 800 members and I regularly blog and update my own site, maintaining my creative exploits alongside my role as a teacher. I am looking forward to utilising these skills more fully by moving out of teaching and in to a role that will enable me to contribute my creative and analytical skills.

Skills

I am an outstanding communicator, with excellent literacy skills and an ability to write accurately in a variety of forms. As a teacher of English at secondary and sixth form level, I am used to creating resources targeted to different abilities and ages, whilst I am confident in delivering presentations, working with large and small groups and supporting individuals in making progress. I am a touch typist (80 wpm) with an intuitive skill for picking up new software and for passing on this knowledge to others. Having self-published two books, I am skilled in proofreading, editing, design and marketing and I have recently created a substantial website for an association with over 800 members, which involved selecting appropriate software, writing copy and designing the layout. I am an extremely efficient worker who has never missed a deadline and I have an eager eye for detail.

Sector Experience

I have worked in education for seven years and this has involved significant creativity in both the creation of resources across different mediums and in the delivery of the material. Outside of teaching, I have directed productions of three of my plays, self-published a novel and monologue collection and designed three websites. I run two regular blogs, writing on a range of topics, and am completing a course from the London School of Journalism that is giving me greater experience of writing to specific word counts and matching my writing style to the needs of the particular publications.
