About me
My name is Sam Humphreys and I have been studying and practising animation for the last 8 years either as a student or hobbyist and I'm keen to move into the professional realm. I have a passion for character animation, be that 2D hand drawn, Digital Puppets or 3D. I also have experience with 2D and 3D character design and rigging which I would be happy to expand upon given the opportunity.
I have studied at Falmouth University on their Animation and VFX course and worked on several award winning projects while in attendance. These covered everything from hand drawn dramatic pieces about Dyslexia to Stop Motion comedies about a Beard eating Beaver.
Since graduating I have been learning to use Blender to improve my 3D knowledge and have put that to use as part of my Masters Degree in Digital Media at University College London. During my time at UCL I have also learned some basics coding and using the game engine Unity. I am also working on a Dissertation on the role of Art Direction and Character design in communicating information. Needless to say I have a strong love for the creative and artistic side of Digital Media and would love to put these ideas into practice in a professional capacity.
When not animating I enjoy gardening, long walks and collective storytelling, which is a sneaky way of saying 'playing role playing games with friends.' I also have a passion for social activism, when possible, and trying to help with various social issues.
