As an industry graphic designer, I can also add that illustrated flair you're looking for, and working for newspapers for 3 and a half years has drilled deadlines into my head, so I won't miss one.
I have designed, managed and produced digital projects in my most recent job, prior to that I was the single creative designer for Manga High, a digital education platform for maths.
