About me
Roxy van Bemmel is a Dutch womenswear designer that also loves prints currently based in Utrecht. She recently graduated from the BA Fashion Design from ArtEZ Institute of the Arts Arnhem (June 2017). She usually starts her designs by making collages and bigger shapes through drapings, that get more detailed with every added layer. She loves using bold colours and strange textures to take garments out of context, this is also why she leaves some things to chance. When she finds a strange or even ugly fabric that was not the original plan, she's not afraid to incorporate it in to her designs. When things get a bit weird they're way more new than when everything's thought through. The materials she found for her patchworks in her graduation collection for example, gave her the chance to work within the boundaries of the given material and get the most of it. This is also the case for her prints, she used common objects that were already laying around but used her vision to create something special.
