I am writing to express my interest in the role you are currently advertising for a Project Designer at Sea-life for Merlin Entertainments Group.

I am an award-winning Designer and Landscape Architect, boasting degrees in both disciplines. I am University educated to a Post-Graduate level with two 'Distinctions' and a 'Dean's Prize for Outstanding Academic Development' for my work. I offer six years' solid commercial experience within the design industry, gained at a 3D set design company as a Design and Display Specialist, Design Engineer and Assistant Manager and within a national multi-disciplinary company as an Assistant Landscape Architect.

This range of commercial experience has equipped me with the acumen and confidence to develop projects from inception through to completion stages across a range of small to large scale schemes.

Both my time in Industry and at University have enabled me to gain and strengthen a range of transferrable skills including; working in a busy team environment, multi-project management, design and detailing, graphic design and commercial awareness. I am accustomed to working to tight timeframes and budgets and can be versatile in adapting my design style and approach accordingly to any given project. I am confident engaging with clients, project partners or contractors and enjoy building dialogue and professional relationships on projects.

I am currently working as a 'Design Engineer' on a contractor basis at a national 3D design company. Initially covering a post as a 'Assistant Design Manager' during a busy three month period and then asked to stay on in my current role helping design, co-ordinate and advise staff in the design and build of bespoke commercial 3D sets and displays. The role requires an inventive 3D imagination, detailed planning, ability to create and deliver user experience and the acumen for realising visual delight through design. I am now looking to move forward into a similar role within the London region where I can showcase my creative talent at an innovative forward thinking company with a similar ethos.

To summarise, I am a passionate, inventive and diligent designer who applies fresh thinking and a creative approach in my work to produce unique design solutions. I am particularly interested in this role because of the unique opportunity to work on and shape projects that are focused on the user journey, sea-life (my original career aim was to be a marine biologist - I have a huge interest in sharks) and your desire to innovate. I know I can bring you all of these attributes and more.
