About me

I was born in the coastal town of Wexford, Republic of Ireland.

After first performing as a choral singer in various school plays and productions, I earned lead soprano in several church and school choir groups before eventually being selected to perform as part of the 14-member children's chorus in the 1997 Wexford Festival Opera performance of Ottorino Respighi's 'La Fiamma'. I had always harboured a love for writing from a very early age and intended to attempt to combine screenwriting with my compositional work. However, after my secondary school cancelled its music classes due to lack of funding, I decided to get grips with the film side of things first, moving to the UK to study for my Bachelor's Degree in Film at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. Aside from the musical work, I took screenwriting and radio drama in my second and third years, majoring in both. I later began studying music privately.

During my first semester at university, I found an opportunity to write an original score to Amber Pictures' horror science fiction film, 'Bane'. The score was a dense mix of electronic experimentation and live cello. Since then, I've gone on to score nearly thirty projects, including writing music for Tom Marshall's quirky, dark comedy 'Happy Clapper', Joe Ripple's thriller trilogy 'Sealed Fates' and Pablo Zanon's romantic drama 'The Sound of Silence'.

I was awarded Best Music at the G-Tech Music Awards 2010 for his piece 'Jon & Lori'. In November of that year, my short concert piece, 'The Last Astronaut' for piano and cello, premiered in Great Neck, New York, performed my The Cross Island Ensemble.

In 2014, I wrote the score to 'A New Man', directed by William H. Thompson and the score for the film went on to be nominated for Best Short Score at the International Music + Sound Awards.

The piece, 'You', premiered on February 14th, 2014 at the Berlin Fashion Film Festival in Berlin, featuring in Martin Monk's film, 'Awake'. The film showcased Asian fashion designer Hien Le's Winter Collection. My score for Martin's film went on to be nominated for Best Music at the Berlin Fashion Film Awards.

As of 2020, I'm busy writing the audio drama scripts for my new audio musical SEVEN DAYS and beginning work on the score to IM DUNKELN for The Stills Gallery Photographic Exhibition in Bristol.
