About me
On June 4th, 2018 I qualified as a copy-editor and proof reader with the College of Media and Publishing, obtaining an industry recognised level 4 diploma with distinction. I have successfully proofread a number of publications for a large well known publisher.
Prior to this, on June 23rd, 2016 I completed a course with the British College of Journalism and was awarded a Diploma in Freelance Journalism. I have since had several magazine articles published.
For three and a half months, between November 2019 and February 2020, I worked as a member of Surrey County Council's Community Partnerships and Engagements Team, where I was involved with the hosting and organising of joint County and Borough Council meetings. I also wrote for council magazines and dealt with enquiries from the public via social media, e-mail and telephone.
Previously, before transferring on promotion to VAT, I worked from 1987 until July 2004 as a Customs Officer at both Heathrow and Stansted Airports, where I gained experience in many different areas of work.
On leaving HM Revenue and Customs in 2007 until 2017, I worked from home whilst looking after my young daughter. I solely ran my own global internet retail business via the eBay website, supporting this work with private sales and supplies to commercial retailers. This involved sourcing and purchasing stock from a diverse range of suppliers, together with on-line retail selling.
During this time, I have also been involved with organizing and hosting a number of motorsport and aviation related talks and public events at the Brooklands Museum in Surrey for Brooklands Trust Members.
