About me

Hello. My name is Robert (Rob) Young and I am 24 year old looking to get into advertising and communications. I graduated from Strathclyde University in July 2010 with a 2:1 in Product Design. I enjoyed all aspects of my course but, in particular, it gave me a real passion for the manner in which brands are communicated to the customer. It is for this reason that I would like to follow a career in the communications industry.

Skills

I have excellent communication skills and am confident with public speaking. I have skills in Adobe inDesign and Photoshop as well as Microsoft Office. Due to my Product Design background I am extremly aware of the improtance of the brand and how it is communicated. This is why I want to enter tis line of industry.

Sector Experience

Earlier this year, I organised a week of work experience with Smarts Creative Communication Consultants in Belfast. I was given the opportunity to work on live briefs, which gave me excellent industry experience. I was then offered 7 weeks' employment by the Head of the Creative Department plus a wage, and I like to think this was not only down to my ability, but also my eager attitude and willingness to learn., I have also done freelance work for local bars in my area.
