About me
UK born and raised, Hales began his creative career as an art director for London design companies and publishing houses, transitioning into music videos after becoming the art director for Nine Inch Nails (Nothing Records). He then went on to direct award-winning music videos for Switchfoot, Jet, Gnarls Barkley, Justin Timberlake, Tinie Tempah,Miley Cyrus, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, winning a Gospel Music Award, Communication Arts Design Awards, MTV VMAs, One Show Design Awards, Broadcast Design Association Awards, Tellys, a UK Music Video Award, a Virgin Media Music Award, and an MTV O Award. His video for Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" earned him upwards of six awards, and was included in MoMA's exhibition, "Spectacle: the Art and History of the Music Video." Most recently, he directed Jack White's "Would You Fight for my Love," Death Cab for Cutie's "Black Sun," and Imagine Dragons' "Shots."
