Dear Sir or Madam,
I have just completed a Masters in Character Animation at Teesside University. During my time at university, my passion for animation has grown immensely. My confidence and skills have greatly increased; I am now a highly commended animator (being shortlisted for the Vis Awards 2010), and also a competent modeller and digital artist.
Prior to, and during my degree, I was a generalist through necessity. I believe that all the skills I have acquired feedback, directly, into my animation abilities. I have been praised by my tutors for the high quality of my work, excellent communication skills, motivation and effort applied to the course. I spent the year of my masters further developing all my skills, but concentrating mostly on animation, which has always been my foremost passion. Consequently so, my observational skills have greatly improved, which in turn has greatly enhanced my understanding of the key principles of animation.
To succeed in animation at university, I had to very quickly learn new skills and master different programs. This allows me a great deal of freedom when constructing my animations and I can adjust quickly between software. My strengths include my ability and willingness to learn, to observe and be critical of my own work and the enjoyment of problem-solving.
I work well within a team and individually. I possess excellent communication skills, am willing to sacrifice for the good of the project and I work well under pressure. I have had a passion for animation since the age of 15, when I first seriously picked up a pencil and drew; my passion for the arts has only grown since. As an individual I offer artistic flexibility, commitment, drive and passion. I feel that my skills and qualities would be an asset to your team.
Yours Sincerely,
Robert Edouard-Whittaker
