About me
My qualifications are B.A (Hons) Fine Art at Staffordshire University, and M.A Illustration: Authorial Practice, at Falmouth College of Arts. After completing the M.A I received a commission for The Guardian newspaper, and also produced illustrations for a number of children's stories, web sites, and my own, continuing self-authored sequences of narrative. My work is comprised of an interplay between reality and fiction and (so I consider) full of imagination, variety, some subtlety and a certain poeticism.
Amongst other jobs, I have also worked in the design department of Mersey T.V, assisting with props and continuity, and have also produced storyboards for a film called 'Dark' (based on a graphic novel) by a small Cornish film company. I have been very interested in animation and consider my work to lend itself to that field, and have used the programme 'Premier' to edit some animation work.
I have also worked in the theatre as a scenic paint assistant, and have painted many murals in varying locations.
I consider my strongest skills to be the ability to visualise scenes from numerous angles, to be able to use traditional painting and drawing materials with great skill and to a high standard, and my imagination. I have a good basic knowledge of computers and programmes such as Photoshop and Word.
