About me
My name is Robert James Hemus and I have recently finished studying at the University of Lincoln with a first pass expected due to the high standard of course work produced, such as my short-listed entrant for the Creative Rose award finals this year.
I had the fantastic opportunity to exhibit at D&AD New blood last year.
Individuality and original ideas, fuel my desire to succeed within the design industry. My portfolio ranges from book design to advertising campaigns such as
'Sure for Women', with one of my art directed book designs, soon to become published by the Case Room Press.
Titled 'Love, Hope, Detail, Freedom, Control, Work, Attitude', it is based around the development of design students and elements affecting there 'Love' for design.
Experimental design and imaginative, abstract work in my own time, provides additional opportunities to be creative, with some elements such as typography and experimental formats appearing within recent 'set briefs'.
I enjoy exploring typography as a separate subject, allowing me
to adapt layout, composition and format within designs. Constantly developing
my ideas brings in influences from university, wider reading and my own creativity.
By connecting experimental ideas and communication, I feel it is important to identify strengths within design and use the opportunity to realise new and innovative approaches. I have applied this
