Dear Sir/Madam,

I was very interested to see your advertisement for the Graphic Designer post as I have been looking for just such an opportunity. I believe that with my skills and experience I could be an asset to your team. As you will see from some of the examples from my portfolio, I am a confident designer with excellent experience using a range of programs, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Quark Xpress.

My time at The Northern Echo newspaper, gave me the chance to develop strong communication and organisational skills and really helped to fuel the enthusiasm I have for design. I learnt to work both independently and perhaps more importantly as part of a creative team, while also becoming adept at working to short deadlines.

I believe my confidence, professional attitude and willingness to work hard will make me a suitable candidate. I always look forward to new challenges and would relish the opportunity to develop my skills further in a more demanding role.
