I Am Ritch

I am a creative person. I specialise in concepts and making those concepts happen. I use whatever tools I can to the best of my ability to get the job done and I'm always ready and willing to learn new processes, new techniques and new skills I design and build websites, logos, posters and custom lettering, Flash animations, graphics, digital art, films and music. I draw, illustrate doodle and imagine. I have made books, edited films, created 3D environments, designed software interfaces and have taken the lead on projects where user experience has been paramount. I have a passion for taking a brief and making it real. I work best under pressure, have the confidence to make decisions about my work yet am always willing to share ideas or discuss new directions.

My Background

I earned my degree in stage design at Bretton Hall (University of Leeds) in 2004. I worked for some time as a stage designer for live performance creating spatial environments with set, light and sound before working for York St John University as a digital artworker in a small energetic team on the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) project. Whilst at York St John I was able to hone my developing Photoshop and Illustrator skills, creating graphics and illustrations for promotional material used on web, print and digital signage. I received training in large format printing and contour cutting on Roland VersaCAMM printers. I was also responsible for photographing events and displaying prints of those photographs around the campus to promote CETL.

I began to accept small commissions for design work through Junior Chambers International in 2008. In 2009 when I decided to leave York St John I chose to become a freelance designer for digital, web and print.

Working as a key member of a small dynamic team such as at York St John taught me how to direct my time, be self motivated and how to work to tight deadlines on high stakes projects - essential qualities to survive the nature of freelancing for a living.

Plays Well With Others

Just because I've been working as a self motivated individual for three years doesn't mean that I've been in solitary confinement. I have often found myself working in collaboration with a variety of other creative people, project managers and stakeholders and am comfortable taking direction from others and also using my own initiative to get the job done. A good example of these qualities was when I worked on a recently produced short film with a group of talented creative people, unknown to one another prior to filming. Our team created an entire film from conception through delivery in 49 hours. I have also worked with various developers, artworkers and teams whilst building graphics and layouts for websites, books and marketing materials. I believe that my personal and communication skills are highly developed and that I can respond to and work well with lots of people from lots of backgrounds.

Why Do I Want To Work For You

As a designer I'm constantly looking for new challenges. Working for a quality firm with an extensive and well renowned client list where attention to detail is paramount would provide that challenge. I strive for perfection in my own work. My creative skills, ability to adapt and learn new skills quickly to improve my productivity and efficiency are my greatest asset.

I look forward to speaking with you in due course.

Best regards,

Ritch Partridge
