About me

I have worked in the design industry for some time now, from creating menus and advertising for local pubs, clubs and theatre groups in my native Leicestershire to creating sales brochures detailing special offers and reworking instruction manuals for specialist products for Husky Products Ltd using Quark and Photoshop.

I received a BA Degree with honours from Leeds University in Performance Design and Production. Although the focus of the degree was on design for the stage I amassed a greater understanding of design for a wider audience. It was also necessary for me to work closely with any number of people at once to tight deadlines, so as lead designer on many projects it was essential that I be organised and effective with regard to verbal communication and time management. Frequently I was responsible for presenting ideas and conceptual designs to a variety of people so it was essential that I not only displayed a flair for the creative but was also articulate and calm under pressure. Whilst studying I found I had developed a broad understanding and skill with Adobe Photoshop and 3D Studio Max (by this stage I was creating 3D environments digitally, primarily in order to cut the cost of constructing scale models). This work led working as a freelance graphic designer. My work has involved promotional literature, logo and corporate identity, web design, original photography, retouching and photo manipulation, event design and concept art.
