Self initiated projects? Equally blessed and cursed, they're a great way of flexing your mental-muscles when work's a bit, well, less creative than you'd like. The real pleasure in them, though is when they suddenly creep into your client work and you realise the good they've done you.
This one was a month of daily lettering, each one done with an hours time restriction and a random theme or meme from the day. Then they got gathered into a poster or booklet - mail me for the link.
