Was listening to an episode the evergreen ‘More Or Less’, Tim Hartford’s always excellent calling-out of bad-takes made with a misunderstanding of numbers and all things statistical.

There was a section about dividing (or multiplying) with zero, which not only had I not considered was a thing (like, ‘what would be the point?’), but that also there’s a mathematical term for its result - Undefined.

Except in perhaps one particular circumstance I’d raise.

One that dividing by zero doesn’t result in an ‘undefined’.

If you do work for free, generally, the perception of the value of it is probably a good deal less than if you had  been paid.

And if you do free work, of course you accept that. And sometimes it’s good (and does you good) to give something away. Because usually the result of dividing by nothing is reciprocal - the beneficiary usually being super-happy and happy to tell you.

You’re not divided by zero, but a greater sum as a result (in a way. Well, according my crudeLogical deducting :)

Unfortunately, the opposite is also true. That things given freely or for free are really valueless. The outcomes of it seen as disposable, so ignorable. 

If you find yourself on the end of zero after doing something for nothing, the main thing is ignore it. 

Because nothing also flows from being annoyed. It fixes precisely zero.

But it still rankles.
