About me

I am a committed and resourceful account manager with over ten years' experience of managing major clients. I have a proven track record in managing and developing projects and forging valuable sales and marketing relationships. Through my experience I became a self-directed senior account manager adept at managing design and editorial teams, private sector agencies, freelance suppliers, as well as projects clients (both internal and external). Throughout my career I have undertaken professional training and gained a thorough understanding of print production processes, scheduling, budgeting, marketing and selling.

In my previous job I was a Senior Account Manager in the Publications department of the Central Office of Information. I would manage multi-disciplined teams. My role was to be the first and main point of contact with clients. I have worked with the Communications teams of most Government Departments and Agencies. These include the Home Office, the Dept. of Education, the Energy Savings Trust, the Dept. of the Environment, and the Metropolitan Police. My brief was to make the first contact with the client to take the job specification. I would then write the brief communicate it to the team, oversee the work, present it to the client and manage the project until completion.

I have produced all forms of printed and electronic design for departments such as the Department of Education, DCMS, The Museums and Library Archives Council, The National Archives Council, the Metropolitan Police, The Ministry of Justice amongst others. I have also worked on many multi-channel projects involving Exhibitions, Digital Media, Direct Marketing, Radio and TV. I have managed suppliers including design agencies, freelance designers and writers, typesetters and printers. I have good knowledge of suppliers in the market.

In addition to the day to day management of an existing client base I was also expected to generate new business. As part of this I was tasked to search out new clients and make proactive approaches to them. This would involve an initial contact via telephone or e-mail. That would be followed up by an in-person visit where I would present the organisation's credentials. I was monitored quarterly on my progress and had to meet agreed targets with my line manager

I am used to dealing with clients at a high level as I was in daily contact with senior figures in a range of government and public bodies. I am a well-rounded communications professional with demonstrable publishing experience in project development. I believe my wide range of experience and knowledge of the marketing communications mix makes me a suitable candidate for the position on offer.
