I am writing you to you to apply for the position of Junior Graphic Designer that I viewed on creativepool.co.uk. I am a recently qualified Product Design student, from the University of Huddersfield with a 2:1 degree classification, and am looking to start my career in design.

Since finishing university I became interested in website and graphic design and would like to extend my skills further. Throughout my degree I used and became fluent in Adobe illustrator, Photoshop, Solidworks, 3D Studio max, and Hypershot and am fully Mac literate. I especially enjoyed certain aspects such as designing layouts of presentation boards, logo design and rendering. And would like to implement my skills and also gain further ones in a web/graphic design environment. I designed at a conceptual stage, then went onto develop that idea into a final product. From there we had to design for manufacture allowing that the product could be produced and sold and in the correct market. So have good experience at problem solving, a good understanding of the business market, Idea generation, a flexible approach to change, working in a team and working around deadlines.

Through my interest of web design I designed some static website examples, two for a company called allsafety.co.uk. I was asked by a friend to design a layout for a second website that is due to be taken forward in the next couple of months to become a fully working e-commerce website, which I well help design and develop. Although not an experienced web designer, I am always eager to learn new skills and developing software such as Adobe Dreamweaver and flash so I am able to design as well as develop high quality websites.
As well as Product and Web design I also have the skills in Photoshop and Illustrator to create visually impressive graphics like lighting and scenery effects that would be implemented in logo, poster or magazine design. Some examples of these and the static sites can be viewed in my portfolio.
In addition to my design degree, I have 4 years experience working in retail. As a golf manager and sales assistant. In which I gained the experience of merchandising, point of sale display, advertising, working in a team and working around deadlines. And have just returned from Les Gets in France, where I was working for a full ski season doing airport transfers. But had to return home after only a month due to a bad snowboarding accident.
