About me
Dear Sir/Madam
I feel this position would be perfect for a person with my experience in the design field as I have a 2:1 in graphic design which I obtained from Coventry University in 2008. Since then I have worked on a range of projects with branding, advertising, marketing, administration, corporate identity, copy writing, magazine literature, booklet, banners, pdf presentations, window displays and leaflet design.
I have taken part in tendering both written/design work for local councils and personally handled or work on a variety of accounts. I also have knowledge of liaising with print companies after spending a year working in one to insure all design work is printed to the highest standard, I have the confidence to pitch ideas across to a design team for a specific project or a potential client if requested.
Alongside producing great work key to keeping a great relationship with all clients was to keep a detailed database of past/present projects, regular briefing meetings with clients, up to date financial quotes, name/location of the nearest print companies to ensure work was always delivered on time and at the best price.
I first demonstrated leadership skills while I was at university together with a fellow student and the Chartered Society of Design (CSD) who we invited to give a lecture in our university to raise vital money for our end of final year degree show. We created a successful advertising campaign to promote the event which resulted in a sold out lecture room and money raised.
Having lead a campaign for Dewsbury in bloom in 2008 I gained a real interest in doing the ground work for the project which included working with the local council, local media channels including radio, papers, viewing various locations around the local town as to see where would be best to put banners up promoting various events that were due to run alongside bloom 2008.
The most recent project that I was involved in was a 6-pp A4 booklet that was created for the Cass Sculpture Foundation to encourage private stakeholders to give their financial support for up-coming projects during a board meeting.
I'm applying for this Graphic Designer position because I have a real passion for producing great contemporary campaign projects through a variety of media platforms but feel I have already reached my short-term career goals and I'm after a much more challenging role. From inception through to completion I enjoy the whole process of bouncing ideas off a team of colleagues constructing a successful action plan and watching a project develop in front of you. I also feel that a job with your company will give me a chance to showcase my passion for producing corporate identities.
I have the ability, confidence, initiative, enthusiasm to take on projects from inception through to completion also the communication skills to work as part of a much larger team. I appreciate that I do have quite a creative background but crucially this has also exposed me to the importance of time keeping, understanding brand guidelines, adhering to policy guidelines, dealing with management at all levels and understanding how important the administrative side is to ensuring a project flows without incident.
I am also fully PC/Mac competent and willing to re-locate/travel.
I hope to hear from you soon regarding this position.
Kind regards
Richard Lindsay
