About me
To whom it may concern,
You're looking for an 'experienced, creative and prolific' writer. I believe I am all three of these.
I am a freelance travel scribe and former magazine editor. Of my many skills, the creation of exciting content sits at the very top of the list. My freelance travel writing work has featured in Australian titles such as the West Australian (Perth's major daily paper) and Australian International Traveller magazine. I'm also about to be published in another Australian glossy monthly, Get Lost. I've also written regularly for South African travel titles Go and Getaway, as well as men's title GQ. Look beyond my travel writing and you can count Reader's Digest, Diner's Club and Reuters among my many clients. And these are merely the highlights.
I've also edited titles with a strong travel element, such as PGA Escapes in Australia and Golf Punk in South Africa. This means I have travel writing experience from both an in-house and freelance point of view.
I have travelled to 69 countries (I keep a list) including Mongolia, Mexico, North Korea, Lesotho, Brunei and San Marino. I've experienced the gamut of travel styles, from backpacking and sleeping in parks to press trips reviewing luxury cruise liners. I'm a great believer in the 'experience' side of travel, and I'll lap these up: anything from geisha dances in Kyoto to kayaking around Venice to swimming in Lake Baikal. I make friends and learn cultures everywhere I go, as I believe this makes for the best possible story.

My expected salary for London would be in the £32-35K range, or perhaps much less if working remotely (or Cape Town
I would fit your culture because I'm as creative as you are and I'm fun to work with. I love this planet, visiting its remotest corners and finding new things to write about them. Also, I note that you have an office in Cape Town, which is my home city, so I think I would be able to make good contributions to your business and team there.
Kind regards,
Richard Asher
