About me

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am a recent graphic design graduate from the University of West of England. My course has given me the opportunity to improve my skills as well as gaining professional practice. Whilst studying at the University I have been set a range of projects given to me individually as well as in a team to complete. It also involved a great deal of independent research, requiring initiative, creativity and the confidence to project your voice towards clients and colleagues, whether it was in a meeting or a presentation. I felt the projects and conditions that I was given have prepared me for this position that I am applying for today.

Since graduating I have attended placements where I have been challenged to manage live briefs as well as having the responsibility to communicate with current clients. After graduating I had the fortuity of being able to have a months worth of work experience at The Walt Disney Company in Hammersmith, where I worked in the toys and stationary department.

Whilst working at Walt Disney I had been given a range of briefs which allowed me to show my skills and my contribution on various tasks. One of the projects that had been assigned was to design posters to be displayed within the building. I enjoyed this project as I felt it demonstrated my abilities well. Within the month work experience I felt that I had improved my skills on Adobe Suite as well as gaining understanding on how to pursue a job which has strict guidelines to follow.

This led to a job at Dynamic Print Media, where I covered a colleague who was on maternity leave. Whilst working at Dynamic Print Media my role was to liaise with multiple clients on numerous jobs, working towards a strict deadline. For the 10 months I was there I not only improved myself as a designer I also became educated in print process. This consisted of imposing files, colour matching, litho printing, collaborating, using Adobe Acrobat as well as actually printed myself.

I feel that I would be a valuable addition to the team as I am motivated and have gained a wide range of skills to be able to finish the tasks that I have been set to complete. I also feel that I have the ability to take on the responsibility of this position not to mention the enthusiasm and determination to ensure that I make a success of it. I am an enthusiastic person who is keen to learn and develop skills in this field of work. During my years at University and my most recent job at Dynamic Print Media I have gained a great amount of experience in layouts and typography. I feel that with this I can manifest these skills into the jobs that I would be assigned to do.
