ABOUT

Concept

The project was developed to create a commercially viable British wildlife product collection inspired by UK conservation species. The aim was to create artwork that could translate across multiple retail products suitable for heritage, museum, gallery and visitor attraction retail environments.

The red squirrel was selected due to its conservation importance within the UK and its strong emotional connection with customers.

Execution

Original artwork was created using traditional illustration watercolour art techniques and developed into repeatable surface pattern and product-ready formats.

The designs were applied across multiple product types including scarves, art prints, greeting cards and gift products. Consideration was given to material finish, colour reproduction, scalability and sustainability across different manufacturing methods.

The collection was designed to balance artistic storytelling with strong commercial retail appeal.

Results

The collection successfully translated across multiple product formats and demonstrated strong customer engagement within wildlife and heritage retail contexts.

The project strengthened positioning within wildlife illustration, surface pattern design and heritage retail product development, supporting future licensing and collaboration opportunities.
