About me
I am applying for this post because I believe I have the relevant qualifications, knowledge and skills required to do the job. Having recently attained a postgraduate MA in Design for Advertising I completed modules on Design, Advertising and Marketing, all of which would be very relevant to the post.
The quality of my work was recognised during my placements and consequently I was offered paid work as a Freelance Designer by NOW and Ideal Home Magazines.
I successfully completed one month's internship with NOW Magazine in May 2011 where I designed several pages for each of the weekly issues.
I completed 2 weeks work experience with the ‘Ideal Home Magazine' in London where I was given such a vast range of experience and got to play a large role in designing the July 2011 issue of the magazine. The Art Director was so impressed with my work that she paid me for the second week.
A work placement with the BBC History Magazine gave me the opportunity to design pages for the January 2011 issue of the magazine. I experimented with designs for front covers and worked at ideas to improve the look of the magazine.
I was also fortunate to gain work experience with ‘Horse Magazine' in London in October 2009. This gave me the opportunity to design a double spread, which was included in the December 2009 issue of the magazine.
I am IT literate and am experienced in using the following software programmes:
Adobe Photoshop CS5
Adobe InDesign CS5
Adobe Illustrator CS5
QuarkXpress
Dreamweaver CS5 (Basic Level)
Flash CS5 (Basic Level)
Final Cut Pro (Basic Level)
Microsoft Word
Microsoft PowerPoint
Microsoft Excel
I am a committed team-player with proven communication, leadership and motivational skills. Both versatile and efficient, I work well under pressure and on my own initiative. I am currently seeking an innovative organisation which will allow me to put my skills, knowledge and experience into practice.
