About me
I am an enthusiastic media professional with strong current affairs knowledge, excellent technical abilities and experience in professional television environments.
During internships and placements at CNN International, BBC and ITV I have gained professional experience. I have worked with, journalists, production teams and editors to produce written, visual and digital journalistic content.
My qualifications in MA Broadcast Journalism and BA Honours English Language show I am a competent and confident communicator. I pay meticulous attention to detail and always ensure my writing is grammatically and factually accurate. I have used my communication skills to write feature articles for CNN, update social media sites and conduct interviews for CNN International, BBC and ITV regional news.
I have editing experience with Final Cut Pro and Photoshop. I have assisted CNN, BBC and ITV production teams in, ingesting media, logging media details into systems, burning DVDs, cutting video clips and editing images. I understand the process of enhancing online articles with dynamic video content, graphics and images. At CNN International, BBC and ITV news, I often cut video clips for broadcast and online. I would choose the most effective video content to compliment an article or feature, from sound bites to moving images. I have adapted to different media systems and learnt new skills quickly, which indicates my technical abilities and my passion for television production processes.
I have obtained images from online banks to supplement online articles and produced a video package for CNN. This involved organising interviews, gathering relevant footage with cameramen, inserting graphics and assisting in the edit suite.
I have strong organisational skills and I am accustomed to prioritising my workload. Whilst working in local radio I would handle several tasks simultaneously. I attended court hearings, organised interviews and wrote online articles. It was important to prepare content in advance to meet tight deadlines, so forward planning was an essential aspect of the job. Working in a small local radio team also involved liaising with colleagues to share out the workload. This demonstrates my ability to take instructions from delegates and work well under pressure.
I have conducted research for senior television reporters, confirmed breaking news and curated data into spreadsheets, all of which illustrate my proficient research skills and strong editorial judgement. I have experience in working in International, 24-hour news environments and appreciate the importance of working flexibly and meeting tight deadlines. I am a pro-active team player, who willingly assists colleagues in order to lighten their workload.
I am looking to begin my career in the media industry by using my television experience, my editorial knowledge and my excellent communication skills.
