About me
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing in response to your 'Designers' needed as advertised on your website.
I have worked in publishing designing books, magazines, part-works and newspaper layout for a number of years and am very experienced using Adobe Indesign, Photoshop and QuarkXpress.
Currently, I work two days a week for a small, local independent newspaper publishers.
The job involves working to tight deadlines and designing page layout and advertisements for a variety of clients. I also, when required, assist with customer queries by telephone or face-to-face.
I have worked at the newspaper for the last eight years and prior to this I worked for various publishers mainly based in London.
My most senior position was Art Director where I was responsible for photoshoots, commissioning illustrators and design and layout of new book titles. I have also worked as a Freelance Designer on part-work titles such as 'Changing Rooms' and 'Ground Force'.
Additionally to books and part-works I have designed Book Stands for the Bologna Book Fair at two different companies I have worked for and more recently designed a range of bright colourful stationary for children, which includes cards, wrapping paper and boxes.
I have two children who both attend school and now feel it is the perfect opportunity to develop my skills as freelance designer. I would very much relish the opportunity to feel involved, where I could put my skills and experience to good use.
I am enthusiastic and hard working and have always very much enjoyed working within the publishing environment. I also work from my studio in Cambridge but am happy to come in to London 1-2 days a week.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely
Rachael Riches
