ABOUT

In this piece, i explore the dual nature of human perception, faith and reason, belief and inquiry, embodied through two female figures reaching toward one another. Their outstretched hands symbolize not opposition, but connection, suggesting that these seemingly contrasting perspectives can coexist within a single mind.

One figure represents the "theist", the part of us that embraces the presence of a divine creator, an omniscient and benevolent force that offers love, healing, and purpose. She embodies trust in the unseen, a surrender to something greater than ourselves. The other figure is the "naturalist", the relentless seeker, the mind that questions, analyzes, and dissects reality to uncover the origins of existence and the mechanisms of life itself. She symbolizes the scientific spirit, the drive to explore our history, evolution, and intellect.

This piece also speaks to a very real internal tension one that many experience when choosing a spiritual path. It reflects the quiet conflict that arises when the soul leans toward the sacred, yet faces skepticism or dismissal from those who rely solely on scientific frameworks. Through this work, I give space to that inner struggle, honoring both the yearning for spiritual connection and the call for intellectual clarity.

Through this composition, I invite you to consider the delicate balance between these two aspects of human thought. Must we choose between faith and reason, or can they inform and enrich one another? Can we embrace the mysteries of existence while also unraveling them? The Theist and The Naturalist is not about conflict but about harmony, an acknowledgment that belief and curiosity, far from being at odds, are two hands of the same reaching soul.
