ABOUT

A brand book with big social impact

Once upon a time, our charity’s name Speakers for Schools communicated what we do, but a lot has changed since 2010. The urgency and scale of our mission have increased exponentially which means the scope of our offer has changed and our brand must work harder than ever before.

Six months ago we had a logo, and not much more. Fast forward to now, and our new brand book has arrived – a brand ‘bible’ that refreshes and redefines our brand based on three guiding principles:

• Change is great
• Engaging = magnetic
• The ”message” matters

These three principles informed our thinking and led our in-house Creative Team to develop an identity that:
• is distinctive, visually disruptive, and dynamic
• has the flexibility and fluency to bring vibrancy and personality to every communication and campaign
• is versatile and compelling enough to resonate with a wide range of stakeholder audiences, from young people to policymakers and CEOs

What did our rebrand cover?
As part of the rebrand, we have considered every touchpoint, big or small, with our charity – from a full suite of customised google classroom backgrounds on our virtual work experiences to large-format banners at school and college events. Wherever our brand is visible, whether in the physical world or online, we have a comprehensive range of colourful designs and treatment options to suit.

And our message?
It’s now centred on one key sentiment. Empowerment. Because we're all about empowering young people. Giving them the opportunity to succeed. And that's a powerful sentiment for any stakeholder audience.

So, who are Speakers for Schools?
We are a UK-wide charity that empowers young people from state schools and colleges to reach their potential by opening doors to life-changing and career-enhancing opportunities.

And what has our impact been?
Last year alone, we inspired 254,754 young people through our inspirational talks programme, offered eye-opening work experience to 138,470 young people, and helped 8,312 young people rediscover a love of reading.

And this year, armed with our new brand book, those numbers are set to skyrocket!
