ABOUT

The task was to design a pair of running shoes, showing the power of Adobe Substance materials and Advanced Visualization. The full process and step-by-step workflow has been documented in Substance Magazine.

Adobe Substance Painter has introduced a very easy way to work with displacements in their workflow. Displacement is a material and rendering technique that uses a grayscale image called a height map to offset the surface of a model. This can be used to apply materials with high levels of detail, bumps, grooves, and surface information onto any model.

My role was to display the magic Adobe Substance can do from a basic geometry, and sculpt a very high-end detailed-looking shoe.

Process:
With the use of Adobe Substance, the basic silhouette and geometry of the shoe were sculpted as a base model. All the other details and textures were created inside of Adobe Substance, giving the shoe its unique look.
