From online to offline, LOOKFANTASTIC, the leading digital-first beauty retailer, moved beyond the screen to create its first permanent physical space, building a community of brand fans and beauty enthusiasts in real life.

Online, LOOKFANTASTIC is loved for its rapid convenience, incredible range, and fantastic deals. The challenge? Re-imagining that online magic with the limits of physical retail that authentically fosters community and enriches beauty culture.

Concept:
LOOKFANTASTIC, the UK’s leading online prestige beauty retailer, embarked on an ambitious journey to bridge its powerful digital presence with a tangible, immersive in-store experience.
The vision was to create a dynamic, community-focused space that went beyond traditional retail – a place for beauty lovers to explore, learn, and connect.

The concept store was designed to bring the brand’s digital spirit to life. More than a simple point of purchase, it aimed to offer education, inspiration, and genuine community engagement.

Execution
Household brought this vision to life through a pioneering store format, blending physical and digital elements seamlessly.

Key highlights of the execution included:
- Interactive Zoning:
A vibrant, colour-coded zoning system guides customers effortlessly through product categories, encouraging intuitive navigation and playful discovery.
- The Box Experience:
Inspired by LOOKFANTASTIC’s bestselling Beauty Box, this in-store feature enables customers to curate their own personalised beauty boxes, creating a tactile, bespoke experience.
- The Spotlight Stage:
Replacing traditional window displays, the Spotlight Stage is a flexible event space hosting monthly brand takeovers, experiential pop-ups, and live demonstrations – launching with leading haircare brand Color Wow.
- Exclusive Beauty Services:
The store is home to the world’s first Color Wow salon, alongside a treatment space in partnership with Dermalogica, providing premium in-person services previously unavailable offline.
- Community and Social Space:
The Beauty Bar offers a social environment for workshops, events, and beauty brunches, building a sense of belonging and encouraging customers to stay, interact, and learn.
- Sustainability Initiatives:
A dedicated recycling station supports responsible beauty consumption, with future plans to expand into product refill services – showcasing a strong commitment to sustainability.
- Inclusive Design:
Accessibility and inclusivity are core to the design, featuring 'quiet hours' for customers who prefer a calmer shopping environment, wide aisles for prams and wheelchairs, and facilities designed for all users.

Results
LOOKFANTASTIC LIVE has been widely celebrated for elevating the traditional beauty retail format into a dynamic and experiential destination. The store’s design—combining intuitive zoning, community-led spaces, and tactile brand storytelling—has successfully deepened customer engagement, encouraging longer dwell times and fostering a sense of belonging that is rarely achieved in beauty retail.

Early indicators show the environment’s immediate success in strengthening brand advocacy and creating new commercial opportunities, particularly through its versatile activation spaces that enable brand takeovers and live events. Customer feedback highlights a strong emotional connection to the store, with visitors responding positively to the space’s open, inviting layout and its focus on self-guided discovery.
