ABOUT

A project shining a light on the ease and accessibility of young people procuring knives in the UK.

Within the last few years, bigger and more vicious blades have become everyday objects – seen as a status symbol on the streets and glorified online. For some young people, the action of carrying a knife has become as normalised as buttering toast.

Wanting to draw attention to this important topic, a creative and conceptual series was born. The cosy domesticity of each background is deliberate. The tablecloth, grained wood, sunlight, and butter dish - all juxtaposed against the brutal shape of the blades. The softness of the butter is a stark contrast to the implicit hardness of these knives and their unwelcome presence in the everyday scene.
