I. PROJECT OVERVIEW:

VIM, an ambitious new EV initiative in the MENA region, partnered with Recollect Studios to establish a brand identity that would captivate both regional and global audiences.

Tasked with building a distinctive brand from the ground up, we crafted a comprehensive brand story, a refined visual identity, and every detail to elevate VIM’s presence—from logo and color palette to an extensive brand manual and thoughtfully named model lineup.

Through strategic insights and meticulous design, Recollect Studios positioned VIM as a bold, forward-thinking brand ready to lead in the competitive EV landscape.

II. SUMMARY:
VIM represented a unique opportunity to establish a new automotive brand from the ground up, presenting both exciting possibilities and considerable challenges.

One of the most significant hurdles we faced was the narrow timeframe in which we had to develop and implement the brand strategy. With the project timeline tightly compressed, we began our work even before the final designs and manufacturing of the vehicles were complete. This required us to maintain flexibility and adaptability throughout the branding process.

Additionally, collaborating with VIM involved engaging with a diverse group of stakeholders, each with varying expectations and insights. Managing these relationships while ensuring alignment on the brand’s vision was crucial to our success. We navigated multiple rounds of feedback and adjustments, all while working under uncertain conditions that necessitated quick thinking and agile decision-making.

Despite these challenges, we conducted thorough market research and crafted a strategic brand framework that defined VIM's mission, vision, and core values. We developed a distinctive visual identity and cohesive brand narrative that effectively communicated VIM’s innovative spirit and market position.

The implementation phase featured a robust multi-channel launch campaign that effectively introduced VIM to the market, generating significant buzz and engagement. III. THE STRATEGY:

Industry Context

VIM is an innovative manufacturer of electric vehicles (EVs) entering a rapidly evolving and competitive automotive landscape in the MENA region. As the EV industry is still in its nascent stages in this area, VIM faced a unique set of challenges. Infrastructure development for EV charging, public perception of electric vehicles, and the overall readiness of the market posed significant hurdles. Many consumers were still unfamiliar with the benefits of EVs, often associating them with performance compromises or limited range.

Given this context, VIM needed a brand that not only resonated with consumers but also instilled confidence in its capabilities, highlighting its commitment to sustainability without compromising on quality or performance.

Challenges

The project required navigating a narrow time frame and coordinating with multiple stakeholders, including engineers and designers, all while the final look of the vehicles was still in development.

This dynamic created a level of uncertainty, as we had to anticipate design elements that were yet to be finalized. Moreover, our team, composed of diverse nationalities, needed to ensure that the brand's messaging and visual identity would resonate across various cultures.

This complexity necessitated a flexible approach to collaboration and creativity, making our process both challenging and enriching.

Strategy

Our strategic focus was to position VIM as a global brand while celebrating its MENA roots. We aimed to establish VIM as a pioneering green brand dedicated to environmental sustainability, without compromising on its manufacturing prowess.

The strategy involved creating a cohesive brand house with VIM at the center, showcasing a diverse lineup of vehicles, including SUVs, sports cars, hatchbacks, and sedans. Recognizing the region's specific needs, we ensured that the brand's messaging addressed concerns such as battery longevity and performance in hot climates.

Our goal was to cultivate a brand that not only meets regional demands but also leads the market by exemplifying innovation and quality.

Creativity

Creativity was at the heart of our branding process. We employed innovative design principles to develop a strong visual identity that reflected VIM's core values of strength, eco-friendliness, and futuristic appeal.

After establishing a compelling narrative, we conducted focus groups to refine the logo and typography, ensuring they resonated with the target audience. This iterative process allowed us to gather valuable feedback and adjust our designs accordingly.

The diverse composition of our team played a crucial role in this phase, as it enabled us to incorporate varied cultural perspectives that informed our design choices. Feedback from focus groups indicated that the brand was perceived as strong, innovative, and eco-friendly, facilitating a robust association with the values VIM represents.
