Katsumi didn't need a new name it needed a new reason for people to walk through the door. Reimagining the former Bar Japonais, we transformed a traditional Japanese restaurant into an immersive hospitality experience inspired by Tokyo's nightlife, contemporary art, and the symbolism of "Victorious Beauty." Guided by the belief that people don't simply dine out, they seek places that become part of their story. We developed a new brand identity spanning naming, interiors, environmental graphics, typography, murals, menus, and digital content. Every element worked together to blur the line between restaurant, lounge, and cultural destination. The result was a distinctive brand experience that earned recognition from Washingtonian, Eater DC, and The Infatuation, establishing Katsumi as one of Washington's most memorable new dining destinations.
