ABOUT

BBC Worldwide gave us a brief to redesign and develop a new Top Gear website which would drastically boost advertising revenue and broaden its (already vast) target audience. By building it in Drupal and through Agile methodologies, the site aimed to push boundaries and break the perceived limitations of creating stunning HD front-end layouts. The Agile process was also a benchmark for BBC Worldwide as this adaptive development strategy never been implemented before.

After months of collaborative work, we delivered a magazine-inspired platform; rich in both imagery and typography. Notably, the site is equipped with a comprehensive car review database featuring every single new car introduced to the market and a refined video hub to increase the media rich experience on the site. Beyond this, the redesign has a greater focus on the car-buying process through partnered content which gives users integrated access to Auto Trader and other top brands. These new features are designed to increase the platform’s global reach and encourage a higher level of engagement across the new site.
UX has been overhauled across all platforms for a fully responsive and seamless experience when shifting between devices. The site also uses parallax effects to enrich content pages and achieve a layered interactive experience. Further to this, the ‘Big Read’ functionality provides richer content formats than ever before on the site.
