ABOUT
This ‘cracking idea’ is Inspired by Victoriana, an era alive with storytellers and curators; rich in charm, originality and, just a little bit… bonkers. Victorian nutcrackers are charming curios, cast in all kinds of shapes and sizes. These delightful brass objects come brimming with personality and quirk and are the perfect ‘nutty’ icons to inspire this range. We created seven ‘Animal Crackers’ from Bruno the Grizzly (in search of honey, sweet and drizzly) through to piggy Thérèse – for whom cracking nuts is a breeze. With paw and jaw and beak and snout, they crack the shells to get them out.
Steeped in British cultural heritage and inspired by Victorian-era craftsmanship, storytelling, and eccentricity – which remains central to the Fortnum & Mason brand. The decorative brass nutcrackers, reflect the Victorian fascination with intricate, characterful design. The copy - inspired by Edward Lear, celebrated author & nonsense poet of the time - taps into a quintessentially British tradition of playful, nonsensical verse. This blend of historical inspiration and literary whimsy aligns perfectly with Fortnum’s wit and charm and elevate everyday moments into something truly delightful.
