Animated explainer for an online marketing research platform Zappi.

A year earlier I have developed corporate illustrations for the same client.
M brief was to create forward-looking illustrative identity that supported the brand’s existing visual language, and to visualise quite complex abstract concepts. We also wanted to prove that corporate illustration doesn’t have to be boring! The illustrations proved to be quite successful and also won quite a few awards. So the following year the the client got back to me with an idea to create an animated explainer with the characters we developed earlier.

My role in this project was direction, story boarding, illustration and animation. I had to create more characters to tell the story we had in mind.

Initially the illustrations were monochromatic, but on this stage client decided to introduce bright colours to signify the moments when the viewer enters the magic of the Zappi world. I have animated the characters in After Effects with some bits animated frame by frame in Photoshop and added some textures created using stop motion. Sound design was provided by the client. I think we got to prove that corporate explainers don’t have to be boring either! The client is happy that it stands out and reflects their values and attracts the right audience.
